A natural geode carved and polished into an oval vide-poche, combining a band of violet amethyst crystals with a polished slab of milky white and pale blue chalcedony at the top. The druse of amethyst, with its well-formed crystal points, runs as a frieze around the lower perimeter, while the chalcedony has been cut and levigated into a shallow oval basin that holds the eye by its translucency. Iron oxide inclusions add subtle ochre tints to the matrix. A piece that bridges the world of mineralogy and the cabinet of curiosities, suitable as a refined desk or console accessory.
